Lorraine Quirke is a recent newcomer to the Toronto music scene. As a regular at the local open mic nights, her music suits the coffeehouse scene to a T; acoustic guitar with solo vocals.

What makes Lorraine's singer-songwriter music stand out is that her lyrics are heartfelt, dealing with everyday topics like family get-togethers, shifty relatives, and boring weekends spent napping. Her voice has been likened to Dar Williams'; her music is melodic and to the point, influenced by the Barenaked Ladies.

Her childhood was spent in smalltown Southwestern Ontario, listening to the country music station only for the winter schoolbus cancellations, and taking piano lessons; she began exploring electronic music in high school. She has a degree in Fine Art from York University, and studied film and television production at Sheridan College. She now works in a suburb of Toronto, Ontario, working fulltime in the broadcast industry as a graphic artist. She began playing acoustic guitar in spring of 2004, perhaps answering the country-folk call from her rural childhood radio-listening.
